Dire Omen: Promo 2011
11/07/11 || Lord K Philipson
What’s next, Omen Straits? This Canadian death metal band’s got a few things going for them:
1. A crappy vocalist.
2. A drummer who is anything but awesome.
3. An overall untightness, alot thanx to mentioned drummer.
4. A bunch of anonymous tunes.
I can applaud some of the weird riffs, but arrangement- and performance-wise this misses the goal. If you wanna hear a great example as for how not to play drums, listen to the start of “Serpent’s child”. I’m not sure even Pro-Tools or Cubase could quantize that shit to make it sound decent. As you can see, Dire Omen isn’t exactly coming across as the saviors of Canadian death metal.
3,5/10: Ease up on the attempts at showing off and play stuff you can handle.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
